There are more than 1,000 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 167 countries today. Here are some of the best and most beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Sites to visit in 2021 based on the UNESCO list. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Machu Picchu is a city of stone associated with the Inca civilization located in Peru, located 2,430 meters above sea level in the Urubamba Valley. It is also called “The Lost City of the Incas”. On 7 July 2007, Machu Picchu was declared one of the 7 wonders of the world, one of the most important symbols of the Inca rule. In 1983, UNESCO added Machu Picchu to the list of World Heritage Sites.

The wonder of the world was discovered in 1911 by American historian Shrey Hiram Bingham, and it has remained a major tourist attraction ever since. The more you explore Machu Picchu, the deeper it gets. Even today, it is not clear why and by whom Machu Picchu was built. This place was vacated sooner than it was built, which is surprising. Machu Picchu is very mysterious and fascinating to tourists who come here.

The city of Petra is also known as one of the new seven wonders of the world, and at the same time, it is the most popular tourist destination in Jordan. Petra is believed to have been founded in 312 BC, after which it came under Roman rule. There are options for nighttime tours in Petra. This involves walking through the Treasury at night. With more than 500 candles lit, it’s quite an impressive sight. There are many tombs, monuments, and sacred buildings in Petra.

It is included in the Seven Wonders of the World, which is called the ‘Great Wall of China’ in English. The wall was built using bricks, stones, wood, and metals. This is why it is called the world’s oldest mud and stone wall. The total length of the ‘Wall of China’ is 21,196 km. According to Xinhua, a leading Chinese newspaper.

Several kings of China have built this wall at different times, not just one. Another special feature of this wall is that it was conceived by the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, but after hundreds of years, its construction work started. Its construction started in the fifth century BC, which lasted till the 16th century.

It is counted among the new 7 wonders of the world. 

This building is a fine example of Rome’s architecture and engineering. It was built by Emperor Vespasian in about the seventeenth century. In this stadium, up to 50,000 people sat together to watch bloody battles between wild animals and slaves. Every year more than 4 million tourists come here to visit.

Taj Mahal is an unmatched example of beauty and the symbol of love. The Mughal ruler Shah Jahan built it in memory of his wife Mumtaz. located in Agra, India. This building has been included in the seven wonders of the world. Due to its grandeur, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. At the same time, it has also been declared as the gem of Islamic art of India. 

Approximately, 28 types of stones were used in its construction. These stones were imported from Baghdad, Afghanistan, Tibet, Egypt, Russia, Iran etc. These stones wonder that the Taj Mahal looks pink in the morning, white in the day, and golden on the night of the full moon.

Taj Mahal was built from a single piece of wood. Wood requires moisture to grow. As it gets the moisture it gets stronger. This is the reason why the Taj Mahal was built on the banks of the river Yamuna. Four minarets have been built around it. These minarets give balance to the Taj Mahal. These minarets have been given a slight inclination on the outside so that during the disaster, these minarets do not fall on the tomb and fall outwards.

Chichen Itza is one of the wonders of the world, it is located in Mexico, USA. And this building named Chichen Itza, located in Mexico, introduces the world to the advanced architecture of the Maya civilization. This place is considered to be the main center of Maya civilization.

The Maya built Chichen Itza about 1200 years ago, and it covers an area of 4 square miles. It was built with stone and is known for its large pyramidal temples. Chichen Itza was discovered by Pastor Luckin Chan in 514 A.D The height of this pyramid is 30 meters. For more than 1,000 years, Chichen Itza has been a center of pilgrimage.

The height of the giant rocks of Stonehenge is about 23 feet. These rocks have been made in a circular shape by erecting them. Scientists say that they must have been built between 3000 and 2000 BC. A big question arises in such a situation: When was there no scientific progress at the time? So how would these giant rocks have been made by moving them from one place to another?
